Unlike scheduled updates, which use your monthly reserved resources, on-demand updates use your remaining units. These are reimbursed every month on your subscription renewal date, even for yearly plans.

How to set up scheduled on-demand ranking updates
To set up scheduled on-demand updates, head to the Projects section, open the Frequency drop-down for your chosen project, and launch the Scheduled On-Demand wizard to configure the settings that best fit your needs.
You can configure your scheduled on-demand update to run once, on your chosen date and time
..or follow a recurring schedule:
For recurring updates, you can set the frequency (available options: weekly, biweekly, or monthly), pick the specific day of the week or month for the updates to run, and optionally define an end date or limit them to a certain number of occurrences.
You can also schedule your on-demand keyword difficulty updates from the same wizard.
This feature is designed to optimize resource usage while delivering scheduled on-demand updates based on your needs. It performs a 12-hour update and allows the consumption of up to 5,000 keyword units per update.

Built for large-scale SEO reporting, this feature is available for Enterprise and higher-tier plans.
To keep workflows efficient and manageable, each account can have up to 10 active scheduled tasks at a time.
