Learn what the Flights result is, how it looks on SERPs and how to track its presence on SERPs to evaluate its impact.

What is the Flights result?

The Flights Box is a rich result containing flight information sourced from Google Flights and typically appears for travel-related queries like “flights to Rome,” “cheap flights from NYC to LA,” or “best flights to Tokyo.”

It is embedded directly in the SERP and provides key details such as travel dates, flight durations, layovers, prices, and airline options, helping users plan trips by quickly comparing flights from multiple providers.

How can you identify the keywords that trigger a Flights result in AWR?

Although you can't get your URL displayed in the Flights SERP feature, unless you're tracking an official airline website, it's still important to know if the keywords you're targeting trigger this feature. The Flights Box is highly prominent and takes up considerable space in the SERP, pushing organic listings lower on the page.

You can easily identify the keywords that have triggered a Flights result and track their performance in SERPs by using the SERP Features filter within the Ranking>Keywords report.

If the chosen website (whether main or competitor) ranks for a specific SERP feature, the corresponding icon will be highlighted in green. If the website does not rank for any available SERP features, the icon will be displayed in blue.

How can you rank in a Flights result?

Since the Flights result is integrated with Google Flights, only official airlines can rank in the Flights Box.

However, you can improve the appearance and visibility of your search snippets for both Google and users by adding relevant structured data markup to your website’s pages. You can find the supported types of structured data on Google’s official documentation here.
