How to change the interface language in AWR

Use Advanced Web Ranking in Japanese, German, French, Italian and 16 more languages. Each user picks their own on the Profile page. See what stays in English.

Advanced Web Ranking speaks 20 languages. Each person on your account picks their own, and your data, exports and SEO vocabulary stay exactly as they are.

How it works in 30 seconds

Advanced Web Ranking (AWR) is available in 20 interface languages, including Japanese, German, French and Italian. To change yours, open Settings → General Settings, find Interface language under User settings and pick a language; AWR reloads in it. The setting is personal: it changes the app for you only, while exports, the API, SEO terms such as SERP or CTR, and your project data stay unchanged.

Change your interface language

  1. Open Settings at the bottom of the left sidebar, then General Settings. You can also go straight to your Profile page.

  2. In User settings, find Interface language, below Two-factor Authentication.

  3. Open the dropdown and choose a language. Every language is listed under its own name (Deutsch, Français, Italiano, 日本語), and you can type in the search box to find it faster.

Who sees which language

Every user chooses independently. The account owner, team members and read-only customer accounts each set their own Interface language. The setting is tied to each user account, so a client who switches their read-only login to 日本語 doesn't change the owner's language, or anyone else's.

Sign-in pages follow your browser. Before you sign in (sign-in, sign-up, password recovery, two-factor authentication, email activation), AWR uses your browser's language. The Sign in with Google button follows it too.

Share links open in the account owner's language. Anyone opening a permalink sees the report in the language set by the owner of the account, whatever their own browser or account uses.

Scheduled PDF reports use the account's language, the one set by the account owner, like share links.

Emails are in English for now. Update emails, alerts and other notifications are still sent in English.

What's translated

Everything you read while working in the app, across every language: about 7,500 texts per language, including 411 tooltips and definitions, and 756 table column texts.

  • Reports and dashboards: Rankings, Visibility, Competition, SERP tools, Research, Forecasting, Trends, Google Data, AI Search and Brand Intelligence, Questions, and dashboard widgets.

  • Tooltips and definitions: the ? next to each metric and column, SERP feature descriptions, search volume and trend tooltips.

  • Tables: column headers and groups, column settings, saved table views and sort labels.

  • Filters and search: filter names and chips, metric pickers, placeholders, keyword group and search engine drop-downs.

  • Charts and KPIs: KPI titles, chart tooltips, axis labels, month and day names, and "no data" states.

  • Everything around the data: modals and confirmations, alerts and messages, form validation, project and account settings, plans and billing, users and roles, the activity log, integrations and exports settings, whitelabel, and the onboarding wizard.

  • Dates and relative times such as "2 hours ago" are written the way your language writes them (14. Sept. 2026 in German, 2026年9月14日 in Japanese).

What stays in English, and why

A few things don't change with the interface language, on purpose. In each case another system, a saved setting or your own files depend on the exact text.

Stays in English

Why

CSV and XLSX exports (column headers and file names)

Your spreadsheets, scripts, imports and Looker Studio connector reports rely on stable headers. Headers never change with anyone's language setting.

The API and MCP tools

Field names and messages are an integration contract. The web app shows its own translated text for the same message.

Your data

Project names, keywords, keyword groups, tags, notes and URLs are shown exactly as you typed them.

Sidebar tab names

Home, SEO, AI Search, Research, Forecasting, Google Data, Reports, Alerts, Settings and Favorites are product names. Everything inside each tab is translated.

SEO and product terms

SEO teams in most markets use the English terms. See the list below.

AI Insights text

The insight itself is written by the model; the buttons, panels and loading messages around it are translated.

Numbers, currency and time zone

Number and currency formats are separate settings, so you can read the interface in one language and keep the number style your reports use. Find them on the same page, under Reporting preferences:

  • Number format: 9,988.65 or 9.988,65.

  • Currency format: $9,988.65 or $9.988,65.

  • Report generation time zone: a personal setting that decides when your scheduled reports are generated, for example [UTC + 9] Japan Standard Time or [UTC + 1] Central European Time, with daylight saving time.

Interface language is not tracking language

Changing the interface language doesn't change what AWR tracks. The language and location of each search engine are set per project, in the search engine language settings. Someone reading AWR in Japanese sees exactly the same rankings, for the same engines and locations, as a colleague reading it in English.

Missing a language, or a label that reads wrong?

Click Don't see your language? Request it next to the picker: it opens the support chat, where you can ask for the language your team needs. Translations are being reviewed by native speakers. If a label reads wrong in your language, send it through the in-app chat with a screenshot.
