What’s New at Advanced Web Ranking? (June & July 2025)
We wanted to catch the perfect waves to launch our newest features to the sea, so some of our June updates needed to wait until July. And it was definitely worth it 🙂 Today we have AI Mode tracking, AI Brand Visibility report upgrades, and lots more.
So let’s get right into it – use the sidebar on the right to jump to a particular update.
AI Mode tracking
Now you can track your rankings within Google AI Mode, available as a dedicated search engine for desktop US queries. While it uses double the keyword units as compared to standard AWR search engines, it provides unique insights and the flexibility to schedule updates weekly, biweekly, monthly, or on-demand within 48 hours.

A quick tip: AI Mode can only be tracked as a standalone search engine (it cannot be combined with other search engines in the same project); therefore, we highly recommend setting it up in a separate project to keep your tracking clear and avoid overwriting existing data.
AI Brand Visibility: Citations & Accuracy Upgrades
We've significantly upgraded our AI Brand Visibility features, giving you deeper insights into how your brand is perceived online.
- New Citations report: The new Citations section reveals the actual sources that LLMs reference when mentioning brands. It goes beyond a simple list of URLs, offering a full view of the domains (websites, blogs, publications, etc.) cited for each topic.
Each domain is ranked by its visibility in AI-generated answers, helping you:
Quickly spot the most cited sources
Monitor how citation volume and visibility evolve over time
Understand which domains LLMs rely on when referencing your brand — and your competitors

- Improved data accuracy:
Web Search Mode (Optional, Recommended): Move beyond static LLM training data by enabling background web search. This adds real-time grounding to your results, ensuring they stay fresh, accurate, and complete; perfect for fast-paced industries or active campaign environments.
Note: While this mode uses more keyword units, it delivers significantly richer and fresher insights.

Country & language customization: Tailor AI analysis to your specific market by choosing your target country (or a custom location) and preferred language.

SERP Similarity Report
Understand changes in SERPs like never before with our brand-new Similarity metric. This powerful feature uses a smart blend of four key factors to measure how similar two SERPs are:
- Rank URL Pairs Match: See how many URLs held onto their exact positions.
- Position Stability Score: Track movement in ranking URLs.
- URL Intersection over Union (Jaccard Index): Discover the overlap between two SERPs in terms of unique versus common URLs.
- Search Intent Consistency: Determine if the underlying search intent has shifted.

The SERP Similarity report offers crucial insights for various use cases:
- Track ranking evolution: Understand how rankings have changed between different dates, search markets, or devices.
- Prevent content conflicts: Determine if different keywords are triggering the same SERP and pulling up the same page in search results, helping you avoid content cannibalization.
- Spot algorithm impact: Easily detect the effects of algorithm updates by noticing significant drops in SERP similarity.
- Flexible analysis: Focus on your tracked websites or view the entire SERP for a comprehensive analysis.
- Monitor SERP feature evolution: See how SERP features have changed over time.
Google AIO Search Engine
Introducing the Google Search + AIO search engine for more advanced tracking of AI Overviews in AWR.
Currently, this newly added search engine is available for both desktop and mobile in several markets such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, etc. And of course, we'll be happy to expand its availability to more countries upon request.
To accurately capture data, the Google Search + AIO search engine employs an advanced query mechanism, which means it uses twice the resources of conventional AWR engines.

Revamped Main Menu
Enjoy a modern, cleaner layout with simplified navigation for faster workflows.
- Quick search: A new search bar at the top lets you instantly find reports and settings.

- Dual logo display: Updated icons for both expanded and collapsed views, also available in Whitelabel mode.
- Customizable favorites: Pin your most-used sections to personalize your workspace and focus on what matters most to you.

- Improved alert triggers: Get an instant overview of the latest triggers directly in the menu, showing what happened and which client project was affected. Drill down with a single click to see the details behind these changes.

Upgraded Whitelabel module
We've given the Whitelabel module a complete refresh, improving both its design and functionality for a smoother experience. Here's what's new:
- Simplified color themes: Choose between our signature Blue (default) and Dark themes.
- Improved settings: The Whitelabel settings page is completely redesigned with clean, expandable sections and clearer labels. Logo uploads are now effortless with drag & drop support and a visual preview.
- Security first: SSL is now mandatory for all custom subdomains, reinforcing security.
- Transparent logging: An updated activity log provides comprehensive tracking of all whitelabel-related actions, making oversight and debugging much simpler.

URL Performance Over Time Widget
You'll now get an overview and evolution of how a specific URL (or a set of URLs) performed across multiple dates. To do this, use the Dashboards - Position Tracking: URL Positions in time widget.

AI Brand Visibility in Looker Studio
We've supercharged Looker Studio exports with a new dimension! You can now visualize your AI Brand Visibility data directly within Looker Studio* for a more comprehensive reporting experience.

*Looker Studio integration is available for all types of Yearly plans and, for monthly subscriptions, starting with Agency and higher.
And that’s pretty much it for June & July! 🙂
