1 Purchasing

1.1 How much does Advanced Web Ranking cost?

Current pricing information is always available online. Discounts are available if you purchase more than one license or if you purchase Advanced Web Ranking together with Advanced Link Manager.

NoteEach Advanced Web Ranking license is accompanied by a free 12 months Maintenance Plan.

1.2 What is the process for ordering Advanced Web Ranking?

Ordering Advanced Web Ranking is very simple. Just place your order on the secure online purchase form.

Once your payment goes through, a confirmation is sent via email with your payment details and the license key that you need to register the software.

1.3 Will my order be secure?

Yes! In order to protect our customers, the order forms on our web site are run on a secure server, utilizing encryption technology to safeguard all credit card transactions from unauthorized viewing.

Orders are processed by our e-commerce partner ShareIt! (a Digital River company), through a secure SSL connection. Your personal information is kept secure and will not be transferred by Element 5 to other parties.

1.4 Which payment methods are accepted, and what are your payment terms?

Our e-commerce partner (ShareIt) handles all the sales for our software. They accept the following payment methods:

  • Credit card (MasterCard, Visa, American Express or Eurocard) via secure online order form/phone/fax
  • Mailed cheque
  • Direct bank transfer

The fastest method is to use a credit card. All the other methods may delay your order until the payment is actually received.

ImportantThe license key will only be issued after your payment is received.

1.5 Can I send through a purchase order?

Where possible, it is preferred that all orders are placed via our secure online purchase form.

Payment via purchase order (PO) is still possible of course, but please bear in mind that the license key can only be sent after payment is received and processed. Upon receipt of a PO we'll issue your organisation with an invoice, reflecting your PO number.

The process for submitting a PO is to simply call our e-commerce partner ShareIt at the following numbers:

They will provide you with the fax number where you can send your company data. Please make sure you have the following information available:

  • The registered name of the licensee company
  • The registered address of the licensee company
  • The name of the billing contact
  • The email address of the billing contact
  • The product you wish to purchase
  • The product edition you are purchasing: Standard / Professional
  • The license type you are purchasing: Full license / Upgrade / Maintenance Plan

Once that is done, an invoice (referencing the PO #) and licensing agreement will be sent via email. If no credit card details are supplied with the PO, the invoice can be paid within 30 days by mailed cheque, faxed/phoned credit card or direct bank transfer.

If you have placed your order but find that you are waiting for your organisation to actually make the payment, you can contact us and request a fully-functional evaluation license key to help you cope with any bureaucratic delays.

1.6 Are there any discounts if I purchase multiple software licenses or if Advanced Web Ranking and Advanced Link Manager are purchased together?

Yes! When you purchase both Advanced Web Ranking and Advanced Link Manager together in a single order you get a 15% purchase discount for Advanced Link Manager.

We also offer volume discounts for all orders consisting of more than 1 license, upgrade or maintenance renewal. The discounting is strictly limited to orders for multiple licenses placed in a single transaction. The discount rates are:

  • 2-4 licenses = 5% discount off the total price
  • 5-9 licenses = 10% discount off the total price
  • 10-49 licenses = 15% discount off the total price
  • 50-99 licenses = 20% discount off the total price
  • 100 or more licenses = 30% discount off the total price

1.7 How is the software distributed? Will I receive a CD-ROM or shrink-wrapped product?

Caphyon has adopted the Electronic Software Distribution (ESD) model. Consequently software is available only via HTTP download. Caphyon does not distribute any software on CD, DVD or as a shrink wrapped product.

As all commercial licenses include 12 months of software maintenance (support and updates), the ESD model is the best way to stay up to date with the numerous software releases made available to you. At your discretion, maintenance can also be renewed (as described here).

1.8 After an order has been placed, how and when can the license key be accessed?

Once the payment is received, a confirmation email will be sent. Instructions on accessing the license key are provided in this confirmation email.

If you purchase by credit card, the confirmation email is usually sent within one hour, but sometimes it may take up to 48 hours if your order requires manual processing. In any case, if you experience a delay longer than 48 hours, please contact us with your purchase details and we'll investigate.

1.9 Can I get a refund or perhaps have an acceptance period in case I am not happy with the product?

Refunds and acceptance periods are actually not needed. We provide a fully functional version of Advanced Web Ranking for you to evaluate. Evaluations are for at least 30 days, allowing you to see and use the software before you proceed with a purchase.

What you'll be using during your evaluation is what you'll be getting when you buy. In fact activating the commercial license involves simply updating the license key. We can also provide you with an evaluation extension if you need more time to become confident in your decision to move ahead with a purchase (just contact us). So please, take advantage of our liberal evaluation policy and be sure that our software is right for you and your team before proceeding with a purchase.

1.10 Are there any applicable taxes?

As European companies, Caphyon and its reseller partner ShareIt are exempt from withholding taxes in the USA. For compliance reasons, a W8-BEN form can be sent out to any US company by simply contacting us and requesting a copy.

Orders for the European Union customers are subject to VAT (value added tax), which is due if a private customer in the EU purchases an electronically-delivered product from a publisher located outside the EU. Corporate customers who specify a valid VAT ID number in the ordering process do not pay any VAT.

No other taxes are collected by Caphyon.

1.11 Are there any money saving packages?

In addition to the basic products, we also created the following money saver packs:

  • Advanced Web Ranking Professional Plus
    This is the Advanced Web Ranking Professional Edition, bundled with an additional 2-year Maintenance Plan. You will thus enjoy an extended 3-year Maintenance Plan and receive a significant 20% discount off the total price.
  • Advanced Web Ranking Enterprise Plus
    This is the Advanced Web Ranking Enterprise Edition, bundled with an additional 2-year Maintenance Plan. You will thus enjoy an extended 3-year Maintenance Plan and receive a significant 20% discount off the total price.
  • Advanced Web Ranking Extended Maintenance Plan
    When your current Maintenance Plan expires, you can keep your application up-to-date by choosing the Extended 2-year Maintenance Plan which will give you a significant 10% discount.

Advanced Web Ranking Professional/Enterprise Plus is the best long-term solution, as it is a money saver package that includes a 3-year maintenance plan, allowing you to benefit from technical support, application and search engine updates for an extended period. Plus, you will receive a 20% discount of the price you would pay for buying a Professional version first and then purchasing 2 maintenance plans separately.

2 Upgrading

2.1 Are there any upgrades available?

Yes. You can upgrade from Advanced Web Ranking Standard to Advanced Web Ranking Professional.

You can also upgrade from Advanced Web Ranking Professional to Advanced Web Ranking Enterprise.

To upgrade, please go to the license upgrade page and enter the license key that you received with your purchase confirmation email.

2.2 How much does it cost to upgrade my software license?

You will be charged with the difference between the two editions, plus a small fee that goes to our payment provider due to the extra transaction. Current upgrade pricing information is always available online.

2.3 What is the difference between an 'upgrade' and an 'update'?

The difference between an 'upgrade' and an 'update' is explained below:

  • Upgrade: one can upgrade from Advanced Web Ranking Standard to Advanced Web Ranking Professional. Upgrades are charged as per our current upgrade pricing.
  • Update: one can update the version of their software from Advanced Web Ranking Professional 4.1 to Advanced Web Ranking Professional 4.2. Licensees can update to any version of their licensed software released during their active maintenance period at no additional cost (see the next section on software maintenance).

3 Maintenance

3.1 What is a maintenance plan?

A maintenance plan covers access to any relevant support and software updates for your software license. All commercial licenses include 12 months of free maintenance (commencing from the date of purchase).

The maintenance plan gives you free product upgrades, free search engine updates, and free technical support for 12 months beginning with the date of purchase.

3.2 When will my maintenance plan expire?

You can find all the information about your existing maintenance plan from our customer information web page.

This information is also available in the Help -> About dialog within the application. If this information is not up to date, then you may need to enter you license key again in the Help -> Register dialog to refresh it.

3.3 Can I still use the software without an active maintenance plan? What happens after the first 12 months?

Yes, you can continue to use Advanced Web Ranking after the active maintenance period expires.

After the first 12 months, your initial maintenance plan will expire and you will no longer enjoy free application updates, search engine updates and technical support. Renewing your maintenance plan is done purely at your discretion. We suggest you renew it in advance of your maintenance expiration to ensure uninterrupted access to the support and software and search engine updates.

While your maintenance plan is active, you can purchase an extension. Maintenance plan extensions commence from the date the previous maintenance period expires.

If you forgot to extend your maintenance plan and it has now expired, you can no longer extend it, but you can renew it by purchasing a 12 months renewal maintenance plan. This will give you a fresh maintenance plan of 12 months beginning with the date of purchase.

3.4 Why should I renew my software maintenance?

3.5 How much does it cost to renew my maintenance plan?

Current pricing information for maintenance plans is always available online. Discounts are available if you purchase more than one maintenance plan at the same time.

3.6 I own multiple licenses of Advanced Web Ranking. Do I need to purchase a maintenance plan for each license?

Yes. Customers that purchase or already own multiple licenses must purchase a Maintenance Plan for each license.

3.7 What happens to my Maintenance Plan when I upgrade from Standard to Professional (or from Professional to Enterprise)?

When upgrading from Standard to Professional (or from Professional to Enterprise), your Maintenance Plan will automatically be upgraded, totally free of charge.

3.8 When I upgrade from Standard to Professional (or from Professional to Enterprise), will my Maintenance Plan be renewed for another 12-month period?

No. When you upgrade from Standard to Professional (or from Professional to Enterprise), you are charged only for the license upgrade. Your Maintenance Plan will be upgraded for free, but the expiration date will remain the same.

3.9 I have a Standard License and my Maintenance Plan has expired. Can I upgrade to Professional and update my Maintenance Plan?

The upgrade to Professional and the extension of a Maintenance Plan are two different transactions and they cannot be done at the same time. You have two alternatives:

  • You can upgrade your license from Standard to Professional and then purchase a new Professional Maintenance Plan.
  • You can first renew the Standard Maintenance Plan and then upgrade your license to Professional.

NoteSince the Standard Maintenance Plan is cheaper, the second option is more economical.

3.10 What happens if I install a new version after my maintenance plan has expired?

The new version will install just fine but will give you an error message when you first launch it, saying that your maintenance plan has expired and that you cannot run the new version.

You now have two options:

  • extend or renew your maintenance plan
  • download and install the latest version released while your maintenance plan was still valid (contact us to find the location of the old version)

4 Licensing

4.1 How many licenses do I need?

Advanced Web Ranking is licensed per user. That means you need one license for each person using the Advanced Web Ranking product. With a licensed version of Advanced Web Ranking, you can create an unlimited number of reports and you can distribute them to an unlimited number of users.

4.2 Would additional licenses be required if multiple instances of the software are used simultaneously within our organisation?

Yes, additional licenses are required. Although you can install the application on an unlimited number of computers, you can only run the application simultaneously by no more than the authorized number of concurrent users, which is equal to the total number of licenses purchased by you.

Therefore, if more than one person uses Advanced Web Ranking within your organisation at the same time, then you need to purchase a license for each such user.

4.3 Can I install the software on multiple computers if I am the only one using it?

Yes, you can install Advanced Web Ranking on multiple computers (workstation, laptop) as long as you are the only person using it on these computers and you don't launch more than one application on different computers at the same time.

4.4 Do I need a new license key when I update to a new version?

No. All you need to do is enter the original license key that you received with your purchase confirmation email.

4.5 Will I loose any of my data (keywords, ranking history, etc.) when installing a new version?

No. When you install a new version (while your maintenance plan is still valid) the application will retain your current license and the data gathered so far.
