Topic: Constant Report

Hi guys

Just had a quick question - is it possible to have a "constant report" generated by AWR?  What I mean is, currently if we generate a report, it's "one-off".  The next time you generate a report, it's a "new" report, so now you have 2 reports and so on.

I'd like to be able to generate an HTML report (that is hosted on our site) that simply updates each time the ranking is checked.  That way we simply give the client ONE URL, and they can check it whenever they want (we update the ranks daily), and they will see the most up-to-date rankings.

Is this possible?

Cheers

Re: Constant Report

Hello,

Sorry for my late reply.

If you append the date in the report file name, you will have a new URL every time you upload the report on your website, but if you don't append this, you should have the same name for your report and it should overwrite the existing one.

Let me know if this is how it goes. If not, send me more details (and some screen shots at help@advancedwebranking.com), to see what happens. You can also send me an error report from this project, using the Help top-left button, Support -> Report Error option. This could help me see what the problem is.

Best regards,

Robert

Re: Constant Report

Hi Robert

Actually it's not an error - I'm just wondering if there is a way to have a report that is continuously updated.  Currently each time we run a ranking report, it generates new files etc, and so if that is uploaded to the site, it'll be a new URL to give to clients so they can see the most updated ranking report. However, I'm wondering if there is a way to only have 1 report, so each time it updates via FTP, it simply updates the report with the latest ranking information, yet KEEPS the old ranking information, so for example the history chart is still available.

Hopefully what I'm asking is a little clearer!

Re: Constant Report

If you do not include the date variable ($date) in the file name, then each new report will be generated with the same name. If you want the new report to overwrite the previous one, you need to make sure the destination folder where the reports are saved is the same. This can be set from the Save to Local File section - Create separate folders for report type,  year and month - Setup button. In the dialog that opens, make sure the Year and the Month checkboxes are disabled, so the new reports will not be created in a new folder.

This way, after each new project generation, you will only have the new file, containing the latest rankings.

In order to include all previous rankings data in the chart, select the All Data option from the Date Range (in the Chart Options section).

Let me know if this helps.

Andreea
