Not sure how Advanced Web Ranking can help you?
We've created a small scenario that will help you experience and
get accustomed to the way Advanced Web Ranking works. We will take a
journey through some of it's most powerful features and will focus our
attention on very useful and practical tasks.
Let's presume you work in the SEO field and want to check the web
site's position of one of your customers on the Alexa, Google and Live.com
search engines.
Creating a
project.
Now let's start building our first project. It's a very
intuitive process. Just launch Advanced Web Ranking, go to Project ->
New Project menu and a "New Project Wizard" dialog box will appear. Here
is where you will select the Google and MSN search engines
for your project, pressing on the Edit search engines button.

Next, you pass on to the Keywords tab and add the 'sport news'
and 'space news' keywords. Now go to the websites tab and add the
website for which you want to check the ranking position. Let's pick
www.cnn.com for this walkthrough.
Assigning colors
to websites.
You surely want your website to stand out in the crowd when we
later look at the top rankings. We can do this by simply assigning a
color to our website. It's easy enough. Just click to select the website
in the websites tab and pick a color from the Color scroll-down menu. So
let us paint our website red.

Updating the
project.
Now that we've created our project, we just don't feel like
being concerned any more. So let's have Advanced Web Ranking do the hard
work and check our web site ranking for us. Press the Update icon from
the menu bar and wait for Advanced Web Ranking to finish gathering data
from the search engines.

Check your
website ranking.
When the update is done, all you need to do is check your
website's position in search engines. Select 'sport news' and Google by
simply clicking on them. The Current Rank tab will present your ranking
for the selected search engine and keyword. You can also see a more
comprehensive view of all keywords for the selected search engine, by
simply switching between the current data view and the extended data
view. It's easy! Just click on the [Extended Data] toolbar
button.
Interested in
your competitors' rankings?
That's what the Top Sites tab is made for, as it will show you
the top ranking websites for the selected keyword/search engine
combination. This is the same information you would obtain by manually
searching via a browser. Here you can see which websites are our closest
competitors. If our site occupies the first position, let's pick the
next two and add them to our project. We can assign a color to each
website to easily distinguish them later.
Interactive
reports.
Let's have a look at the generated interactive reports. There
are six types of ranking reports: Current Rank, Keyword Rank, Search
Engine rank, Top Sites, Overview and Visibility. For each of the first
three and the Visibility ranking reports a chart view is available with
the rank evolution in time of the position of the website.
These interactive reports come with a set of filters for a
comprehensive view of what is going on with your site or competitors'
sites on search engines. This will help you sort the view according to
the data you find relevant.

Current Rank
This report presents the current rank information for all the
websites in your project on the selected search engine, for the selected
keyword. This way, you can see a comparative view of how all the
websites in your project rank for the given coordinates.
The Current Rank Report is tied to a date. By default, the
comparison is made between the current date and the last update. But you
can compare any date with a previous one by selecting the days in the
"Compare to" and "Date" scroll-down menus.

Keyword Rank
This report presents information about the rank evolution of
the selected website, on the selected search engine, with all the active
keywords in your project. This way, you can see how well wour website is
ranked for each keyword in you project.
You can easily filter the data in this report by selecting an
option from the "Display:" drop-down list. The available filters are:
All Items, Changed, Ranked, Not Ranked, Moved Up, Moved Down, Added,
Dropped, In Top 10 20 30 40 50 or 100, Colored. You can either enable or
disable this option from the [Filters] toolbar button.

Search Engine Rank
This report presents information about the rank evolution of
the selected website on all the active search engines in your project,
for the selected keyword. This way you can see the position of your
website on each and every active search engine in your project.
You can generate a ranking report for a previous date by simply
selecting it from the "Date:" scroll-down menu. Selecting one of the
websites in the websites left-side panel will draw it in a bold script
for better differentiation from the other websites.

Top Sites
This is a tabular report presenting the list of all the
websites (and their positions) for the selected search engine and
keywords. This is the same information you would obtain by manually
searching in a browser window. The Position and Website columns of this
report have the same meaning as their counterparts from the Current Rank
Report.
This report also shows historical information about the search
engine results. To see what happened at a certain date, all you need to
do is select the date you are interested in from the Date drop down. The
Compare To drop down allows you to compare the currently selected date
with a previous date, to see what was changed.

Overview
The Overview report aggregates all the available information
into one single report. It is split into three parts, corresponding to
each of the three entities that it deals with: Websites, Search Engines
and Keywords. When one of the three entities is selected as input, the
other two are presented as output.
Also, you can swap the columns and lines using the two filters
"Ordered by Websites" and "Ordered by Keywords" and you will have 6
Overview reports.

Visibility
The Visibility report gives you an overview of the visibility
of your website in the search engines.
On the left side, you have the three entities that you can
select as input: Websites, Search Engines and Keywords. On the right
side, you have several criteria for comparison between the websites
available in your project, such as: First Result, In Top 10, Ranked,
Moved Up, Moved Down, Visibility Score, Visibility Percent, Site Rank,
Average Site Rank.
Graphical
evolution charts.
After analysing these tabular reports, let's see all the
information that has been gathered so far with the help of the rank
evolution charts. As we have already mentioned, chart views are
available for the Current Rank, Keyword Rank, Search Engine Rank and
Visibility reports.
The Rank Evolution views are graphical charts depicting the
evolution in time of the position of the websites we are interested in.
It shows nice coloured lines, so we can exactly trace the period in
which our website enjoyed a good ranking, or the period when it was not
ranked at all. But notice that at least two days are necessary for you
to see a relevant graph. Here we can choose a chart type for our report
from the following:

The Current Rank chart.

Schedule updates.
We have to gather data regularly from the search engines - we
don't need the rankings for a website only for one day! Advanced Web
Ranking can automatically update the data in your project as often as
you want. After all, this is why the Scheduler has been invented, isn't
it?
Now it's time to schedule Advanced Web Ranking to automatically
gather data from the search engines - so that all we are left to do then
is check the reports it generates.

Report
generation.
Now let's see what choices do we have after an automatically
generated report. At the scheduled date and time, the application
gathers all the data from the search engines, generates the report in
any format your customers may like (PDF, XML, HTML, Excel, Text and CSV)
and either saves it to a local folder, or sends it to you by email, or,
if you're more demanding still, uploads it to a FTP server.
For these scheduled tasks, the only requirements are to have
your computer turned on and connected to the Internet - the application
will automatically start and run in the background! Advanced Web Ranking
will work for you and keep your customers satisfied. Advanced Web
Ranking will fulfil all its scheduled tasks in the background - you
don't even need to have the application running.
Save reports to
folder.
You can choose to have Adwanced Web Ranking save the generated
reports to either a default folder or to any existing folder on your
computer.
Upload reports by
FTP.
You can choose to have your reports uploaded to a FTP server
and then published on your web site. Customers could thus easily see
their reports by accessing their personal section in your web site.
Adding and using FTP profiles is just as easy as adding contacts to your
Address Book.

Send reports by
email.
Let's now focus on the most popular choice: emailing reports to
customers. Let's suppose you are a Webmaster or a SEO expert and some of
your customers want to receive ranking reports in PDF and EXCEL formats
by email, every week on every Tuesday at 2 a clock. You would have to
take your customers' email addresses one by one, attach the report files
and send them. Don't worry - this won't be the case. It's just another
great job Advanced Web Ranking can do for you! You only have to use
another powerful feature provided - Custom Reports. You can schedule
Advanced Web Ranking to update your ranking reports any time you want,
generate them in one of the before mentioned formats and send them at
the desired email addresses.

Search engine friendly.
Worried about how safe such a tool can be? Relax! Advanced Web
Ranking is one of the safest tools you can find for this job.
With Advanced Web Ranking now you have the opportunity to stay
relaxed and enjoy the website monitoring without worying about using an
automated ranking software, as our product can be extremely search
engine frendly. The process of gathering position data for various
queries and websites involves automated querying of the search engines.
This automated querying - if done abusively - has the potential
of imposing a heavy burden upon the search engine resources (bandwidth
and processing power). There are even known cases when certain engines
had to take action against users that would generate immense amounts of
traffic by doing an almost continuous automated querying. That's why you
need a search engine ranking software who emulates a manual search
through search engines and produces reliable and accurate positioning
reports.
We, at Advanced Web Ranking, fully understand the issues
related to automated querying. Our ranking software was designed with
them in mind, so that it generates less or equal load than a user
manually doing all the searches.
Advanced Web Ranking does each query page by page, pausing
between two consecutive pages. For each engine, it will only do a single
query at a time. We avoid doing unnecessary searches, by promptly
stopping when all the user's websites were found (or when a set limit is
reached). And, most of all, Advanced Web Ranking stores only one set of
data per day, overwriting it in subsequent updates, thus making more
than one daily update unnecessary.
Runs on all major
operating systems.
You won't have to worry about the operating system
compatibility, because Advanced Web Ranking works on your favorite OS
with a suitable nice interface. It is the only web ranking software that
runs on Mac OS X and provides more than 1000 search engines to search
with.
