SEO and Keywords
The most important question, when optimizing a
web site for better ranking in search engines is: "Which keywords to
optimize for?" Which are the keywords people enter in their web browser
every day when looking for stuff on Google or Infoseek? And which
variant or combination of your keywords is the winning one? Which noun
should be the first? Which should be the last? Any adjectives?
A difference of one letter in a small word may mean the
difference between one hundred thousands visitors a day and one
thousand. For your web site, it may mean the difference between success
and failure. Optimize for the wrong keyword and you will be spending
days working to get 10 more visitors.
Word Popularity
Tools
The good news is that there are certain tools online that can
help. You type your keywords and they will suggest related searches,
together with relative importance indices. Very useful. Unfortunately
their statistics are based on less used search engines. What is
currently the most important search engine of them all, Google, has so
far been very secretive with its data. No keyword usage was reported,
other than the Google Zeitgeist. And who's optimizing for "Britney
Spears" anyway?!
Google Suggest
But all that has changed a short time ago, when Google released
a new search tool: Google Suggest. Type in a few letters and Google will
propose 10 queries that start with those letters, together with the
number of results they generate. The way those 10 keywords get selected
is from their most common searches, filtering any adult-related ones.

This is invaluable for the SEO community: finally you can get
reliable information on what people are looking for on Google. The only
limitation is that the suggested variation only concerns the keyword
postfix. An even more powerful tool would suggest variations of the
prefix as well. We can always dream...
Advanced Web
Ranking Keyword Suggest
And Advanced Web Ranking, as always on top of the SEO tool
industry, is the first product to offer you an integrated version of
Google Suggest. Just go to the Keywords tab of the Project Settings and
start typing. Advanced Web Ranking will connect to Google for you and
supply you with the Google Suggest results for the keys you entered.
