New Features in AWR Cloud: Unlocking Not-Provided Organic Keywords

Hi guys, it’s time to kick off 2016 in style, and AWR Cloud brings you a new awesome feature: we are ready to unlock your not-provided keywords from Google Analytics!

Not Provided Keywords

I am pretty sure that an important part of your SEO strategies relies on organic keyword data. And with roughly 80% of your keywords being not-provided, that leaves you with just 20% of your search terms to plan around. And that’s not nearly enough.

I know there are ways around this, and SEOs all around are trying to match clicks or impressions with traffic data, or are focusing on paid keywords altogether to fill the void.

AWR Cloud comes to your help now, and search terms that generate organic traffic to your website will no longer be hidden, and you will be able to once again access a full keyword profile for your webpages. Access the Google – Not Provided menu to get started!

AWR’s new feature breaks all organic traffic down by keywords and allows you to measure the traffic directly driven by the keywords you’ve been optimizing the website for. You are now able to correlate with precision your optimization efforts with results and confidently prove your worth to clients.

And the best part about this that you have to do very little from your end: just connect both your Google Analytics and Search Console accounts, targeting the same website, in AWR Cloud and we do the rest. It’s that simple.

By combining traffic values for not provided terms from Google Analytics with the number of clicks from the Search Console, we start pairing up keywords with a proportional number of visits, thus breaking down the not-provided keyword pool.

Not Provided Keywords UnlockedAWR Cloud analyzes data for the past full month and visit information can be available for each of the URLs associated with your domain, similar to the Visibility by URL metrics. Once discovered, keywords can be easily added into your existing AWR Cloud project, so you can monitor real-time rankings and details stats, or run SEO reports for each of them.

I can’t wait for you to try the new feature for yourselves and let us all know what you think of it, so drop me a line in the comments section below!

  1. That’s really nice feature! The problem is, i get the error massage “In order to see Google Not Provided data you need to connect Google Analytics and Google Webmaster Tools, both targeting your current project domain” The both accounts (GA & GWT) are successfully connected.

    1. Hi Nadezda! Thanks for reaching out! We’re gonna need some time to verify what happens from our end, and I’ll get back to you with news as quickly as possible! We’re investigating the issue as we speak! 🙂

    2. Hi again! We just made some fixes, and the situation should be resolved in a few hours. The data is being re-processed, so if the situation persists by tomorrow, please send us an email at and we will investigate what happens! Thank you for your patience with this!

  2. Very nice feature indeed, but i am also experiencing the same problem that Nadezda is talking about. “In order to see Google Not Provided data you need to connect Google Analytics and Google Webmaster Tools, both targeting your current project domain.”

    1. Hi Anders! Our team recently rolled out some fixes, and we’re currently recomputing some metrics. The ‘connect Google Analytics…’ message should no longer be displayed, but please allow our system a few hours to re-process the data. After this you should start seeing the data! Sorry for the delay, I hope it will be fixed soon but if the situation persists, drop us an email at so we can take a closer look!

One of my sites was still showing the “Connect Google Analytics” message, but I just “reconnected it”, and now the message is gone, replaced with the “we are syncing the data” message, so am curious to see this once it’s populated. Great work guys!

        1. Hi Jeff, if the data is not synced by tomorrow, send us an in-app message so we can check it out! The entire team is pretty psyched about this feature and we want to make sure it all runs smoothly from now on.

    1. Hi there! As far as I’m aware it was designed specifically for the Cloud version, since the Desktop one does not fully support this feature.

    1. Hi there, that’s a great question! While secure searches will not display the search term in GA (listing them as not provided instead), clicks from result pages will be counted in GWT no matter what and will be associated with a corresponding search query.

Based on this, we proportionally match a portion of the not provided visits (GA) to clicks received by a keyword (GWT).

For example, if GWT lists 5 clicks for a keyword while GA displays none for the same term but has 10 visits for not-provided terms, it’s safe to assume that your keyword got 5 out of those 10 under not provided. In a nutshell, this is what the feature does, and it relies of the accuracy of the data gathered directly from Google.

  3. Hi Vincent! We’re all very excited about this new feature. We had a few hiccups as we launched it earlier, but it’s a great addition to our application and the entire team hopes it will be very useful for our clients 😉 Thanks a lot for your confidence in AWR Cloud!

    1. Hi! If you’re taking about the Keyword Research data, for now we only have US, UK and German databases. But you can always track real-time rankings for pretty much any country, including Ireland 🙂 If you want to know more, please drop us a line at and I’ll be happy to get back to you!

  4. Hi Oleg, I’m so glad you like it! If the data is not there by tomorrow or Monday, drop us an in-app message so we can check it out. We’re gathering all the metrics and updating the not-provided keywords as we speak!

  5. I am having the same issues. when I click on the not provided I get the message “No data to display yet, Gathering Data” It has been saying this since yesterday morning. It is a time thing?

    1. Hi Dawn! We’re currently monitoring the situation and when data becomes available for you, my colleagues from the support team will contact you via email and let you know! Thanks so much for your patience with this!
